"is it a 120HZ looks like 60 HZ? Too much Blur!" 2010-04-15
By MichaelDW (Michigan for some reason)
When I turn is on it says 1980p @ 60 Hz. wish I bought a 240 HZ. Way too much blur when any motion. Even when someone is walking across the screen it blurs. Everything else is good.

By Juan Alcocer
This LCD is plugged to a sat receiver the HD channels look excellent features and design are very nice audio is excellent as well.
The weight of this LCD is low compare to the size of it. I like that it's thin which make is lighter also.
I have no cons to mention this time.

"I LOVE it!!!" 2010-04-11
By ladyleo (Atlanta)
I actually bought this TV on Black Friday '09. Setup was a breeze to my new Panasonic blu-ray player too.
You won't be disappointed in this TV. Picture is ok for TV viewing but that's only because I'm too cheap to pay for HD programming right now. But DVD's are crisp and AWESOME looking. HDMI cables are a must, since this TV does not have S-Video.

"Non-glare screen is a winner" 2010-04-08
By Beanpole (California, USA)
I took as long as anyone else to pick a LCD TV. The B630 has a great picture, the sound at normal volumes is ok, but the thing I really love is the non-glare coating on the screen. My previous TV was difficult to watch during the day due to glare, but the B630 looks great. I echo all the good stuff people have written and disagree with most of the listed shortcomings.

"Solid performer" 2010-04-05
By Jason Bateman (los angeles, ca)
i purchased this TV from Best Buy about 6 months ago. it was my first TV purchase and i spent a long time researching brands and speaking with peers about which way to go. Samsung seemed to have a very strong quality reputation and their prices were not outrageous (although higher than most). I finally got my info together and headed to Best Buy to check out all the TVs they had to offer. This particular TV caught my eye right away as the best looking one of the 40-inchers. It was right next to a Sony of similar specs and seemed to have a sharper image and better coloration.

I went ahead and purchased it. My first tv had a faulty base that made the TV lean forward, very annoying! So, i returned it to Best Buy just to swap it with another of the same model. This next one sat level and looked great! The TV has been solid since day one, never any issue with anything...so far! im happy with my purchase and the only negative thing i can say about this model is that it is a tad too small for my taste. I love watching basketball and football in HD and obviously for sports, the bigger the better. Oh well, next tv maybe, for now this works brilliantly.

Amazon.com Product Description

Taking your home viewing experience beyond ordinary HD, the Panasonic TC-P42C2 presents 600Hz subfield drive technology. While the 1024 x 768 resolution plasma panel serves up crisp, high definition images, 600Hz technology accelerates frame-rate conversion, achieving an exceptionally fluid and natural reproduction of motion. Further, a 2,000,000:1 native contrast ratio ensures deep black levels for sharp detail and high color purity. And, allowing you to transform this plasma HDTV into a 42" digital photo gallery, the TC-P52C2 sports a built-in SD card slot. Finally, two HDMI inputs offer optimal single-cable connectivity to HD video sources.
Offering excellent picture performance, Panasonic's 42-inch VIERA TC-P42C2 Plasma HDTV features a 720p high-definition resolution and 600Hz Sub-field Drive for superb motion clarity. This and other models in the C2 line offer Panasonic's VIERA Image Viewer feature, which enables you to play slideshows of JPEG images stored on SD memory cards, as well as the VIERA Link feature for controlling a variety of compatible components--from Blu-ray Disc players to digital cameras--through a single remote.

Adhering to Panasonic's commitment to the environment, this VIERA model--as well as all 2010 models--features improved power consumption and meets the new, more stringent Energy Star 4.0 requirements. And you'll get a long Plasma panel life of up to 100,000 hours--more than 30 years of viewing when watched 8 hours a day--before the brightness of the panel decreases to half.

Key Features

600Hz Sub-field Drive: 600Hz technology lets you view superb full-HD motion and still images with 1080 lines of resolution. For even greater clarity with motion images, Panasonic uses its own unique image-analysis technology, which converts the motion in each scene into data. And each frame is practically displayed for a shorter length of time than in previous systems, to reduce aftereffects (see an illustration of 600Hz technology).

VIERA Image Viewer: View full-HD images with the integrated SD card slot, enabling you to view JPEG photos captured from your digital camera or camcorder on the big screen. Navigate your images via an easy-to-use thumbnail display.

VIERA Link: Allows the interlinked operation of various AV devices--from DVD and Blu-ray Disc players to home theater sound systems to digital cameras and camcorders--using only the VIERA remote control by simply connecting the devices to each other by an HDMI cable (see pop-up illustration).

Which Size HDTV is Right for My Room?

HDTV Size chart
With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience.

If you know the size of the room you have already, where you want to sit, and where your new HDTV should go once you get it, you can figure out the size HDTV you should get.

  • Minimum size = Viewing distance/3
  • Maximum size=Viewing distance/1.5
